HYROX Incheon 2026

HYROX arrives in South Korea with Incheon hosting a three-day event on May 15-17, 2026. Incheon is the gateway to the Korean peninsula — its international airport is one of the most connected in Asia, and the city's ultramodern Songdo district provides world-class venue infrastructure. South Korea's fitness culture is strong, with a rapidly growing CrossFit and functional training community that has been awaiting HYROX's arrival.

Mid-May is ideal for racing in Incheon. Temperatures are mild (17-22°C), spring is in full effect, and the humidity of the Korean summer has not yet set in. International athletes can combine the race with exploration of Seoul just 40 km to the east — one of Asia's most compelling cities for food, culture, and sport.

Getting There

By Air

  • Incheon International Airport (ICN) — one of Asia's premier international hubs, serving over 80 airlines with direct connections to more than 180 destinations worldwide. For international athletes, ICN is likely your arrival point
  • The AREX Airport Railroad Express connects ICN T1 and T2 to Seoul Station in 43 minutes (non-stop express) or about 66 minutes (all-stop service). This is the easiest way to reach Seoul for pre-race accommodation
  • Airport limousine buses serve multiple hotel districts in Seoul and Incheon — convenient for those with heavy luggage
  • Taxis and ride-hailing (Kakao T) are readily available at ICN, with set fares to central Seoul of approximately KRW 60,000-80,000

By Metro & Rail

  • Seoul Metro Line 1 connects Incheon Station (city centre) to Seoul via a slower route through Bupyeong and across the Han River
  • Incheon Metro Line 1 — covers Incheon city centre, Bupyeong, Guwol, and extends to Songdo and the IFEZ area. Essential if the venue is in Songdo
  • Incheon Metro Line 2 — a newer circular line linking Geomdan, Guwol, and Incheon Grand Park
  • T-money cards or PASS cards work seamlessly across Seoul and Incheon metro, buses, and AREX

By Ride-Hailing & Taxi

  • Kakao T is South Korea's dominant ride-hailing platform and works throughout Incheon and Seoul. The app is available in English
  • Taxis in Korea are metered, clean, and reliable. Most drivers in Incheon and Seoul speak limited English but navigation apps handle communication well
  • Incheon's Songdo district is highly walkable and well-served by the metro once you are in the area

Where to Stay

You have two main options: stay in Incheon near the venue (likely Songdo) or base yourself in Seoul and travel in on race day via AREX.

  • Songdo (Incheon) — if the venue is in Songdo, staying here eliminates race-day travel stress. Songdo is a planned smart city with modern hotels, clean streets, and Central Park. Options include Sheraton Grand, Holiday Inn, and boutique properties
  • Incheon City Centre (Bupyeong / Guwol) — more affordable options closer to the traditional heart of Incheon, well connected by metro
  • Seoul — Hongdae / Sinchon — near Hongik University station with easy AREX access. Popular with international visitors, vibrant nightlife, excellent food options
  • Seoul — Myeongdong / Jung-gu — central Seoul with many international chain hotels and walking distance to Seoul Station (AREX terminus)
  • Seoul — Itaewon / Yongsan — international district with a strong fitness community, gyms, and restaurants catering to Western tastes

Tip: Seoul offers exceptional value for international visitors. A quality 4-star hotel in Seoul often costs less than equivalent accommodation in Tokyo or Singapore, and AREX makes the 40-minute journey to Incheon straightforward.

Training in Incheon & Seoul

South Korea has a well-developed CrossFit and functional training scene, particularly in Seoul. Travelling athletes based in Seoul can access world-class facilities before racing in Incheon.

  • CrossFit Incheon — established CrossFit affiliates are present in Incheon with functional training equipment. Check individual affiliates for sled track and ski erg availability
  • CrossFit Seoul — several strong affiliates in Seoul including CrossFit Haebangchon (Itaewon area), popular with international members
  • Anytime Fitness / Planet Fitness — widespread commercial gym chains throughout Korea with cardio equipment and weights
  • Boutique functional studios in Seoul's Gangnam, Itaewon, and Mapo districts offer HYROX-relevant training formats
  • Many Korean athletes train for HYROX at specialised studios — ask locals for the latest recommended facilities

Running Routes

  • Incheon Songdo Central Park — a 40-hectare waterfront park in Songdo with dedicated running paths along the canal. Flat, scenic, and well maintained
  • Incheon Grand Park — a large forested park in eastern Incheon with trails of varying distances
  • Seoul — Han River Parks — the Han River running paths are Seoul's premier running venue. Dozens of kilometres of flat, paved riverside trails connect parks along both banks. Best accessed via Yeouido, Banpo, or Ttukseom parks
  • Seoul — Namsan Mountain trails — a wooded hill in central Seoul with trail running options and panoramic city views. The 5.6 km loop around Namsan is very popular
  • Running conditions in May are near-ideal in Korea — mild temperatures, low humidity, and long daylight hours

Nearby HYROX Races

If May does not suit you, East Asia and the wider Asia Pacific calendar offers additional options for the 2025/26 season:

  • Seoul: November 14-15, 2026 (approximately 40 km east, reachable by AREX or Seoul Metro)
  • Osaka: January 30-31, 2026 (approximately 940 km southwest, about 1.5 hours by flight)
  • Beijing: March 21-22, 2026 (approximately 950 km northwest, about 1.5 hours by air)
  • Shanghai: May 16-17, 2026 or October 31-November 1 (check HYROX Shanghai 2026 for details)

Race Day Tips

  • Arrive at least 90 minutes before your wave start. International athletes travelling from Seoul should factor in the AREX journey plus time to reach the venue from the station
  • Bring your passport or Korean ID for registration. A digital copy of your race confirmation is sufficient at most HYROX events
  • Korean spectators are enthusiastic supporters — expect strong energy from the local community on race day
  • May weather in Incheon is pleasant but can be cool in the morning (12-15°C). Bring a warm layer for pre-race waiting areas outside the venue
  • Load your T-money card before race day to avoid queuing for metro tickets. This covers all transport including AREX
  • Hydrate well the night before. Korean BBQ and social events the evening before a race can lead to under-hydration — plan your pre-race nutrition carefully
  • Post-race, Incheon and Seoul offer outstanding recovery food — Korean food culture is excellent for carbohydrate and protein replacement
