HYROX Training in Warsaw

Warsaw 2026 is not a normal HYROX race. It is a MAJOR — the final Major of the 2025/26 season, and the last qualifier before the HYROX World Championships. That status changes who shows up and why. The top 15 athletes in the Elite15 category of the race will be fighting for the last remaining spots at Worlds. The rest of the field is racing alongside the best HYROX athletes on the planet, in what is effectively a season finale.

Warsaw also happens to be one of the best-value HYROX cities in Europe. CrossFit memberships here cost roughly half what you pay in Berlin and a quarter of Zurich. The scene is smaller than German and British cities but the core boxes are well-equipped, and the 2026 race at PGE Narodowy — the Polish national football stadium — is a significant upgrade from the previous venue.

CrossFit Boxes and HYROX Gyms

Warsaw's HYROX scene centres on a handful of serious CrossFit boxes. Pricing runs PLN 250-500 per month for a full CrossFit membership (~€55-110), drop-ins PLN 50-80 (~€11-18). This is what European HYROX used to cost in 2018 and Warsaw is one of the last major cities where it still does.

  • CrossFit Warszawa Centrum: The primary HYROX-friendly box in central Warsaw, about 10 minutes from the PGE Narodowy race venue. Full HYROX-style functional equipment including SkiErgs, rowers, sleds and wall balls at competition height. This is the default choice for athletes visiting Warsaw for the race.
  • CrossFit boxes in Mokotów: Mokotów is Warsaw's business district south of the centre and has a concentration of CrossFit affiliates — good for athletes based in the southern hotels or staying in the serviced apartments that dominate the area.
  • CrossFit boxes in Wola: West of the centre around Rondo Daszyńskiego, with several affiliates aimed at the young professional crowd working in the surrounding office towers.

For cheaper cardio access, CityFit is the dominant Polish chain at PLN 100-150 per month (~€22-33) for 24/7 gym access. Multiple Warsaw locations, rowers and SkiErgs at most of them. Zdrofit sits in the mid-range at PLN 130-200 per month. Neither chain has sleds or competition-height wall balls so plan one weekly drop-in at a real CrossFit box for the station simulation.

Running Routes

Warsaw has two iconic running venues that between them cover most training needs, plus a couple of useful secondary options.

  • Łazienki Park (Park Łazienkowski): Warsaw's most famous park, 76 hectares in the south-centre with multiple paved loops between 1 km and 5 km. Royal gardens, palace buildings, the Chopin monument, and actual red squirrels at dawn. Mostly flat with a couple of gentle rises. The standard Warsaw running venue.
  • Vistula River (Wisła) promenade: Flat paved paths along both banks of the Vistula. The eastern bank (Praga side) has less traffic and better surfaces for tempo runs. Up to 10 km in either direction from the Świętokrzyski Bridge. Perfect for 1km repeats and longer tempo work.
  • Park Skaryszewski: Lower-profile park in the Praga district on the east side of the Vistula. Quieter than Łazienki, includes a lake with a 3 km loop. Good for recovery runs and variety.
  • Pole Mokotowskie: Large open park-meadow in Mokotów, flat and open with multiple path options. Less manicured than Łazienki but easier for fast intervals without dodging tourists.

HYROX Warsaw Major at PGE Narodowy

The 2026 race is at PGE Narodowy — Poland's national football stadium, on the east bank of the Vistula at Aleja Księcia Józefa Poniatowskiego 1. The stadium holds 58,000 spectators for football matches and has the interior floor space to handle a full HYROX course plus the kind of spectator atmosphere that a Major deserves. Expect the venue to be used to its full dramatic potential.

The race runs April 16-19, 2026 across multiple waves each day. As a Major, wave allocations, start times and the Elite15 format are managed more carefully than normal HYROX events — check the official schedule closer to race day.

Getting there:

  • Metro: Line M2 to Stadion Narodowy station — the station is directly under the stadium, so you walk out of the train and you're at the venue. This is by far the easiest option.
  • Tram and bus: Multiple tram lines cross the Vistula from central Warsaw to the Praga side; the stadium is well-served by public transport.
  • Train: Warsaw Central (Warszawa Centralna) is the intercity rail hub. From there take M1 to Świętokrzyska and transfer to M2 for Stadion Narodowy (about 20 minutes total).
  • Airport: Warsaw Chopin (WAW) is 20 minutes from the centre by train or taxi. Warsaw Modlin (WMI) is further out but cheaper for Ryanair and other budget carriers.

For accommodation, anywhere in Śródmieście (the central district) puts you within a 20-minute metro ride. Staying in Praga on the east bank gets you closer to the stadium but further from restaurants and nightlife. Warsaw hotels are significantly cheaper than comparable western European cities — the budget goes much further here.

Warsaw Weather

Mid-April in Warsaw is mild but variable: 8-15°C with occasional warm days in the high teens and the odd cold snap that drops it back to 5°C. The race is indoor but your build-up from February on runs under cold Polish winter conditions. Łazienki and the Vistula are both runnable year-round but plan on layered clothing from October through April.

Summer in Warsaw is warm (20-28°C) with occasional hot days. Winter (December-February) is properly cold — regular sub-zero temperatures and snow. If you're building toward the Warsaw Major from December onwards, treat the first two months of your build-up as indoor-only.
