HYROX Toronto 2026
Toronto is Canada's largest city and the centre of the country's HYROX community. The Metro Toronto Convention Centre sits on the waterfront in downtown. HYROX Toronto draws athletes from across Ontario, Quebec, and the US Northeast, and it is one of the larger events on the North American circuit.
Good public transit, a walkable downtown, and a diverse restaurant scene make Toronto a practical destination race. The waterfront trails are right there for pre-race shakeout runs.

Getting There
By Air
- Toronto Pearson (YYZ) is Canada's busiest airport, about 27 km northwest of downtown. Hub for Air Canada and WestJet with connections across North America and internationally
- UP Express is the dedicated airport train to Union Station -- 25 minutes, CA$12.35 one-way. Fastest and most reliable option
- Billy Bishop (YTZ) is on the Toronto Islands, minutes from downtown by free tunnel and shuttle. Porter Airlines serves US Northeast and Canadian cities. Very convenient for the MTCC
- Rideshare from YYZ runs CA$40-60 depending on traffic (can be slow during rush hours)
By Train/Transit
- Union Station is Canada's rail hub, a 5-minute walk from the MTCC. VIA Rail connects Toronto to Montreal (5 hours), Ottawa (4.5 hours), and cities across Ontario
- GO Transit -- regional commuter trains from the Greater Toronto Area converge at Union Station
- The TTC Union subway station (Line 1 Yonge-University) is right at Union Station. Streetcars 509 and 510 also serve the waterfront near the convention centre
- Amtrak's Maple Leaf service runs daily between New York City and Toronto (12 hours, scenic route through the Hudson Valley and Niagara)
By Car
- From the east (Montreal) -- Highway 401 west, about 5-6 hours
- From the west (Hamilton/Niagara) -- QEW east, about 1-1.5 hours
- From the US (Buffalo/Niagara Falls): QEW east after crossing at Lewiston-Queenston or Peace Bridge, about 1.5-2 hours
- Several parkades near the MTCC. Expect CA$25-40 for event-day parking in the downtown core
- Downtown Toronto is congested and parking is expensive. Public transit or staying downtown is the better call
Where to Stay

- Financial District has business hotels on Bay Street and King Street, many within 10 minutes walk of the convention centre
- Queen West is about 15 minutes north by streetcar, with independent shops, galleries, and restaurants
- The Distillery District has boutique hotels in restored Victorian industrial buildings, about 20 minutes east by transit
- Harbourfront has waterfront condos and hotels on the lake, some within walking distance of the MTCC
- Book early -- Toronto is a major convention city. Reserve 4-6 weeks ahead, especially during peak season
Training in Toronto
Toronto has dozens of CrossFit boxes and functional fitness gyms. The waterfront path and ravine trail system mean you are never far from a good running route, and many gyms now offer HYROX-specific programming.
- CrossFit YKV -- downtown location with competitive programming and experienced coaches
- CrossFit Colosseum has multiple locations across the GTA with a strong community
- Equinox (Bay Street/Yorkville) has full functional training floors
- GoodLife Fitness is Canada's largest gym chain with locations across the city, most with rowing machines and functional areas
Running Routes
- Waterfront Trail (Martin Goodman Trail) is a flat, paved path stretching 56 km along Lake Ontario. The Harbourfront to Beaches section is popular and good for tempo runs
- Don Valley trails run through Toronto's largest ravine system -- car-free running with gentle elevation changes. Access from Evergreen Brick Works or Riverdale Park
- High Park has a 1.5 km loop around Grenadier Pond plus hilly trail options on the west side. About 30 minutes from downtown by subway
- The Beltline Trail is a former rail corridor in midtown Toronto, about 9 km of flat, paved trail

Toronto has a continental climate with cold winters and warm summers. Fall events will see temperatures in the 40-60 F (5-15 C) range outdoors, while winter events can be quite cold. The convention centre is fully climate-controlled, but plan your travel clothing accordingly and be aware of potential flight delays during winter weather at Pearson.
