HYROX Jakarta 2026
Jakarta joins the HYROX calendar for 2026 with a two-day event on June 27-28. It is the first HYROX race in Indonesia and a major milestone for the sport's expansion across Southeast Asia, joining Singapore, Bangkok and the planned Kuala Lumpur event. Jakarta is the largest city in Southeast Asia by population, and its fitness community has grown rapidly in recent years.
For international athletes, Jakarta offers an affordable race destination with easy connections across Asia Pacific. The late June date falls in Jakarta's dry season, meaning less rain and slightly lower humidity than the wet months — though the indoor venue will be climate-controlled regardless.

Getting There
By Air
- Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK) — Jakarta's main international airport, about 25 km northwest of central Jakarta in Tangerang. Direct flights from across Asia, the Middle East, Europe (via hubs) and Australia
- The Airport Rail Link connects CGK Terminal 2/3 to BNI City station in central Jakarta in approximately 45 minutes. This is the fastest and most reliable option
- DAMRI airport buses serve multiple destinations across Jakarta and are a budget-friendly alternative
- Ride-hailing apps (Grab, Gojek) operate from designated pickup areas at CGK — expect 60-90 minutes to central Jakarta depending on traffic
By Public Transport
- Jakarta MRT — the north-south MRT line runs from Lebak Bulus through central Jakarta (Sudirman, Thamrin). Clean, air-conditioned and fast
- TransJakarta (BRT) — an extensive bus rapid transit network with dedicated lanes covering most of the city. Affordable but can be crowded at peak hours
- Commuter Line (KRL) — suburban rail services connecting Jakarta with surrounding cities including Bogor, Bekasi, Tangerang and Depok
- LRT Jakarta — a newer light rail line serving eastern Jakarta (Kelapa Gading to Velodrome)
- Use a Flazz, e-money or similar contactless card for seamless payment across MRT, TransJakarta and KRL
By Ride-Hailing
- Grab and Gojek are the dominant ride-hailing platforms and work throughout Jakarta
- GrabCar and GoCar provide air-conditioned car services — useful for reaching venues where public transport coverage is limited
- Jakarta's traffic congestion is significant. Allow extra time during morning and evening rush hours (7-10 AM and 4-8 PM)
- Once the venue is confirmed, check whether MRT or ride-hailing is the faster option for your specific route
Where to Stay
Until the venue is confirmed, staying near a major MRT station gives you the best transport flexibility across Jakarta.
- Sudirman / Thamrin (CBD) — Jakarta's central business district. Wide range of international hotels, direct MRT access, and walking distance to major landmarks. The highest concentration of quality accommodation
- Senayan / SCBD — south of the CBD, home to upmarket malls and hotels. MRT station at Istora Mandiri provides good connectivity
- Kemang — a popular expatriate neighbourhood in South Jakarta. Good restaurants and nightlife, but further from the MRT. Better for those comfortable using ride-hailing
- Menteng — a leafy, central residential area near Thamrin. Quieter than the CBD with good mid-range hotel options
- Budget travellers will find affordable hotels and hostels across Jalan Jaksa (backpacker area near Thamrin) and throughout South Jakarta
Tip: Jakarta hotel prices are very competitive by international standards. A good 4-star hotel in the CBD can cost less than a 2-star property in London or Tokyo. Book near an MRT station and you will have reliable transport regardless of traffic.
Training in Jakarta
Jakarta's fitness scene has expanded significantly in recent years. CrossFit affiliates and functional training studios are now established across the city, and the running community is active despite the tropical climate.
- CrossFit Jakarta — one of Indonesia's established CrossFit affiliates with functional equipment including rowers and ski ergs
- CrossFit BSD — located in South Tangerang, with a well-equipped facility for HYROX-style training
- F45 Training — multiple locations across Jakarta offering functional group classes. Equipment varies by location
- Several boutique functional training studios in Senopati, Kemang and SCBD areas cater to a fitness-conscious clientele
- Standard commercial gyms (Fitness First, Gold's Gym, Celebrity Fitness) have cardio equipment but sled tracks are uncommon
Running Routes
- Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) sports complex — the go-to running venue in central Jakarta. A 5.5 km loop around the complex on dedicated pedestrian paths. Open early morning and evening, with a large running community on weekends
- Sudirman (Car Free Day) — every Sunday morning, Jalan Sudirman and Jalan Thamrin are closed to traffic for Car Free Day. A flat 6 km route through the heart of the city, hugely popular with runners and cyclists
- Alam Sutera running track — a dedicated running track in the Alam Sutera township west of Jakarta
- Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) — newer waterfront development in North Jakarta with wide pedestrian paths for running
- Running in Jakarta is best done early morning (5-7 AM) to avoid heat, humidity and traffic. GBK and Sunday Car Free Day are the safest and most pleasant options

Race Day Tips
- Arrive at least 90 minutes before your wave start. Registration queues and bag drop take time, especially at newer HYROX events where processes are being established
- Collect your race bib and timing chip at the registration desk. Bring a printed or digital copy of your confirmation and a valid ID (passport for international visitors)
- Jakarta's humidity is high year-round, even in the dry season. Hydrate thoroughly the day before and morning of the race, even though the venue will be indoor
- Bring your own nutrition. Gels, bars and drinks may be available at HYROX vendors, but availability at newer Asian events may differ from established European races
- Spectators: Indonesian fitness communities are enthusiastic and supportive. Expect good energy from local supporters
- Traffic warning: Jakarta's traffic is notoriously heavy. Allow at least double the expected travel time if using roads during peak hours. MRT is the safest option for punctuality
- Post-race hydration is critical in Jakarta's climate. Rehydrate with electrolytes after racing
