HYROX Valencia 2026

Valencia joins the HYROX calendar for 2026 with a three-day event from October 16-18. It is Spain's third-largest city and a genuine sporting destination -- home to the Valencia Marathon, which regularly attracts fast times thanks to the flat course and ideal October weather. The same weather logic applies to HYROX: mid-October in Valencia sits at 18-22°C, which is comfortable for high-intensity indoor competition.

For athletes racing both Valencia and Barcelona in the same season, the back-to-back autumn schedule gives a clear goal to build towards. The two cities are about 350 km apart and connected by high-speed rail.

Date & Venue

Feria Valencia is the city's main exhibition complex and a strong candidate for the venue, given its size and track record hosting large sporting and trade events. Prices are indicative until official pricing is confirmed on hyrox.com. Early Bird tickets offer the best value. For an event like Valencia -- a popular destination with strong local and Spanish national interest -- Early Bird slots are likely to sell quickly once they go live.

Getting There

By Air

• Valencia Airport (VLC) -- 8 km from the city centre. Served by Iberia, Vueling, Ryanair, easyJet and most major European carriers. Direct flights from London, Paris, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Munich and many other European cities
• The Aerobus shuttle runs from the airport to the central bus station (Estacio d'Autobusos) and Valencia Nord train station in about 20 minutes
• Metro line 3 and 5 also connect the airport to the city centre, with a journey time of about 25 minutes

By Train

• Valencia Nord -- the main Renfe train station. High-speed AVE services run to Madrid in 1.5 hours and to Barcelona in 3.5 hours
• Regional Cercanias trains connect to Gandia, Xativa and smaller surrounding towns
• From Barcelona, the high-speed connection makes a day-trip feasible if needed, though staying overnight is recommended for race day preparation

By Public Transport

• Valencia's metro covers the city centre, airport, Feria Valencia and most major districts
• EMT buses fill gaps in the metro network. Journey planning is straightforward via the Valencia Transport app
• Valenbisi, the city's public bike-share scheme, is a useful option for flat cross-city journeys in good weather
• Taxis are metered and readily available. The MyTaxi app works in Valencia

By Car

• Valencia is at the intersection of the A-3 (to Madrid), A-7 (to Barcelona and Alicante) and V-30 ring roads
• Driving is straightforward from within Spain. Parking in the city centre is limited -- check the specific venue for event parking options
• If the venue is at Feria Valencia, parking is available at the complex. Pre-booking is advisable

Where to Stay

Valencia has excellent value accommodation compared to Madrid or Barcelona. October is the peak of the autumn travel season, so book early for the best rates.

• City centre (El Carmen, Ruzafa) -- the liveliest neighbourhoods with the best restaurant and bar options. Walkable and well connected to the metro
• Near Valencia Nord station -- convenient for arriving by train. Several mid-range hotels in walking distance of the station
• Feria Valencia area -- northwest of the city centre. Closer to the most likely venue if confirmed at Feria. Hotel options are more limited here but some business hotels are nearby
• Budget travellers will find excellent value in Valencia compared to other Spanish cities. Hostels in the Ruzafa and Barrio del Carmen areas offer good options

Tip: October 16-18 may overlap with Valencia's Fira de Juliol or other local events, so check the hotel availability early. Prices in Valencia are generally lower than in Madrid or Barcelona for comparable quality.

Training in Valencia

Valencia has a growing functional fitness community. The city's sports culture is strong -- it is home to major cycling and running events -- and this filters through to gym culture.

• CrossFit Valencia and other affiliates offer drop-in sessions. Equipment quality varies between boxes, so check what is available before booking
• Functional training studios in the Ruzafa and Benimaclet areas have invested in conditioning equipment including rowers and SkiErgs in recent years
• Large commercial gyms (DiR, Anytime Fitness, Basic-Fit) have solid cardio equipment. Not all will have sled tracks
• The city's sports centres (Poliesportius) offer affordable membership for shorter stays

Running Routes

• Jardin del Turia -- a 9 km linear park running through the centre of Valencia in the former Turia river bed. Completely flat, traffic-free and beloved by Valencia runners. One of the best urban running routes in Spain
• Malvarrosa Beach promenade -- the seafront path runs for several kilometres along the coast. Flat and fast. Good for longer tempo runs with sea views
• Parque Natural de la Albufera -- for those wanting trails and nature, the Albufera lake park is a 10 km drive south of the city. Flat paths around the lagoon
• The streets of Ruzafa and the port area (America's Cup Zone) are also popular for easy-paced urban running

• Paris: April 23-27, 2026 (direct flights from Valencia, approximately 2 hours)
• Rome: HYROX Rome 2026 -- September 24-27 (accessible by flight)

Race Day Tips

• Arrive at least 90 minutes before your wave. Check-in procedures and registration queues take time at multi-day events
• Collect your race bib and timing chip at registration. Bring a printout or digital copy of your confirmation and a valid photo ID
• October in Valencia is warm by northern European standards. Dress accordingly and stay hydrated throughout the day
• Bring your own nutrition. Gels and bars are available at HYROX vendor stands but queues build before the busiest waves
• Spectators: free entry. Spanish HYROX events have strong community energy and enthusiastic crowds
• Bag drop is available. Bring a light jacket for the morning if you arrive early, but you will not need heavy layers for October in Valencia
• Post-race, the Jardin del Turia and Ruzafa area are excellent options for recovery walks and food
