HYROX Rimini 2026

Rimini joins Italy's 2026 HYROX calendar with a four-day event from May 28-31. Best known internationally as an Adriatic beach resort and for its MotoGP heritage at the Misano World Circuit, Rimini also hosts some of Europe's largest trade fairs and exhibitions through the IEG expo complex — providing first-class infrastructure for a major sporting event.

Late May in Rimini means warm coastal weather typically in the low-to-mid 20s, ideal for training runs along the beach promenade while the race itself is contested indoors. For athletes from northern Europe, Rimini offers the added draw of one of Italy's most famous summer coastlines as the backdrop to race weekend.

Date & Venue

The Rimini Expo Centre (IEG) is one of Italy's largest trade fair venues and a likely candidate for hosting, though the official venue has not yet been confirmed. Sign up for email alerts on hyrox.com to be notified as soon as details are announced.

Getting There

By Air

• Rimini Federico Fellini Airport (RMI) -- approximately 8 km south of the city. Active primarily in summer months with seasonal direct routes from UK, Germany, Scandinavia, and Russia. In late May, check whether your route is operational for 2026
• Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport (BLQ) -- approximately 110 km north and the most reliable year-round gateway. Served by Ryanair, easyJet, Lufthansa, and many others. Direct trains from Bologna Airport station to Bologna Centrale, then frequent intercity trains south to Rimini (approximately 1 hour total)
• Milan Bergamo (BGY) or Milan Linate (LIN) -- around 3 hours by train from Rimini. Useful if arriving on budget carriers into Milan

By Train

• Rimini station is on the Adriatic coast line (Bologna-Ancona-Bari). Frequent regional and intercity trains serve the route
• Bologna to Rimini: approximately 1 hour by intercity train. Regular departures throughout the day
• Milan to Rimini: approximately 2.5-3 hours depending on service (direct or via Bologna)
• Rome to Rimini: approximately 4 hours via Bologna or on direct services along the Adriatic coast
• Florence to Rimini: approximately 2.5 hours via Bologna

By Public Transport

• Rimini's city centre is compact and the station is within 1-2 km of the main beach zone and expo areas
• Bus services operated by Start Romagna cover the urban area. Route 9 connects the station to the Expo Centre area
• In late May, seasonal tourist transport links are active. Electric shuttles and bike rentals are widely available near the beach
• Taxis are available at the station and throughout the city. Booking via app (itTaxi) is reliable

By Car

• Rimini is accessed via the A14 Adriatic motorway, connecting north to Bologna and south to Ancona and Bari
• Parking at the IEG expo complex is extensive. Confirm event-specific parking guidance once the venue is announced
• Traffic on the Adriatic coast can be heavy in late May as the summer tourist season begins — allow extra time if driving on race days

Where to Stay

Rimini has thousands of hotel rooms spread across the city centre and the long beach strip. Prices in late May are reasonable but rise quickly as summer season begins.

• Marina Centro beach strip -- the main beach hotel zone, running north of the city centre. Dozens of hotels at all price points, most with direct beach access. Comfortable base for race weekend with easy taxi or bus access to the expo centre
• Rimini city centre -- close to the station, Piazza Cavour, and Castel Sismondo. Practical for late arrivals by train and easier access to restaurants in the historic centre
• Riccione -- a resort town 10 km south of Rimini along the coast. Quieter than Rimini's main beach strip and often slightly cheaper. Cercanías-style rail connections back to Rimini station
• Budget chains (ibis, B&B Hotels) have locations in central Rimini at competitive prices

Tip: Rimini is a well-developed tourist resort. Late May represents the start of summer pricing in many hotels. Book as early as possible to secure the best rates, especially if the race coincides with Italian public holidays.

Training in Rimini

Rimini's functional fitness scene has grown significantly with the rise of HYROX and CrossFit in Italy. The coastal setting also provides excellent outdoor training options.

• CrossFit affiliates -- Rimini and the surrounding Romagna area have established CrossFit boxes. Check for HYROX-oriented classes and guest day passes
• Functional studios -- several specialist studios in the city have SkiErg, rowing machine, and sled track equipment appropriate for HYROX preparation
• Commercial gyms (Fit Active, Virgin Active) are present in the area but sled availability varies. Confirm before visiting
• The IEG exhibition complex sometimes hosts fitness events and open training sessions in the days before major events — check hyrox.com for pre-race access options

Running Routes

• Rimini beach promenade -- a flat, hard-packed path running along the seafront for several kilometres. Ideal for tempo and interval work with excellent footing. Busier in the morning tourist rush; early starts are recommended
• Parco XXV Aprile -- a green park near the train station with good running paths and less exposure to beach crowds
• Canale Ausa towpath -- follows the canal from the city centre inland. Flat and relatively quiet, good for steady-state efforts
• The wider Romagna plain is flat and excellent for cycling and longer running routes. Many local athletes train on quiet roads south and west of the city

Race Day Tips

• Arrive at least 90 minutes before your wave start. Italian HYROX events are popular and registration queues build quickly at multi-day events
• Collect your race bib and timing chip at registration. Bring a printed or digital copy of your confirmation and a valid ID
• Late May in Rimini can be warm and humid — especially on the coast. Stay hydrated in the hours before your wave and bring more fluid than you think you need
• Bring your own nutrition. Vendors are present at Italian events but queues build during peak wave times
• Spectators: Entry is typically free for supporters. Italian crowds bring genuine enthusiasm and the atmosphere is excellent
• The beach and outdoor areas near the venue may be busy in late May. Plan your travel route to avoid peak tourist traffic near the seafront
• Post-race, the beach promenade and city restaurants are excellent for recovery. Rimini's food scene — ribollita, piadina, fresh seafood — is a genuine reward after racing
