HYROX Poznan 2026

Poznan rounds out Poland's 2026 HYROX calendar with a three-day event from November 20-22. Located midway between Warsaw and Berlin on the main European rail corridor, Poznan is one of Poland's most important trade fair cities and home to some of the country's best-known sports facilities. Its central European position makes it one of the most accessible HYROX venues for athletes travelling from Germany, the Netherlands, or the Baltic countries.

November racing in Poznan means cold outdoor conditions, but the race itself takes place in a climate-controlled indoor venue. The late-season timing makes Poznan an excellent target for athletes who want to end their competitive year on a strong note, with the opportunity to draw on accumulated fitness from earlier in the season.

Date & Venue

Getting There

By Air

• Poznan Lawica Airport (POZ) -- approximately 7 km west of the city centre. Served by Ryanair, Wizz Air, LOT Polish Airlines, and Lufthansa. Direct routes include London Stansted (2h15m), Amsterdam (2h), Frankfurt (1h40m), Dublin, and Oslo. Bus 59 connects the airport to Poznan Glowny station in approximately 25 minutes
• November is low season for Poznan airport, which typically means lower fares. Ryanair and Wizz Air routes are available at competitive prices compared to summer or peak events
• Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) is approximately 270 km west. Train from Berlin Hauptbahnhof to Poznan in under 3 hours — possibly more practical than routing through BER if flying from western Europe

By Train

• Poznan Glowny is the main station, centrally located and served by both domestic PKP Intercity services and international trains
• Warsaw to Poznan: approximately 2 hours 30 minutes by PKP Intercity Pendolino or EIC express. Frequent departures throughout the day
• Berlin Hauptbahnhof to Poznan: approximately 2 hours 30 minutes by EC (EuroCity) train. Excellent cross-border service with multiple daily departures
• Gdansk to Poznan: approximately 3 hours by intercity train
• Wroclaw to Poznan: approximately 2.5 hours
• The station is in the city centre, walking distance from the Old Market Square and most hotels

By Public Transport

• Poznan has an excellent tram and bus network operated by ZTM Poznan. Trams are the fastest way to cross the city and serve the main event venues
• Tram lines 2, 5, 9, and 12 pass through the city centre. Line 14 connects the station to the MTP Fair area
• Bolt taxis are widely used in Poznan and inexpensive compared to western European cities. Good for race-day transport with equipment
• Day passes (Karta Miejska) are available for unlimited tram and bus travel on a given day

By Car

• Poznan sits directly on the A2 motorway between Berlin and Warsaw — one of Europe's main east-west transport corridors
• Berlin to Poznan by car: approximately 3 hours via the A2
• Warsaw to Poznan by car: approximately 3 hours via the A2
• Extensive parking is available at the MTP fair grounds. Confirm event-specific arrangements once the venue is announced

Where to Stay

Poznan has a wide range of accommodation at competitive prices compared to western European race cities. November is low season, which means better availability and lower rates.

• Old Market Square (Stary Rynek) area -- Poznan's beautiful Renaissance square at the heart of the city. Boutique hotels, historic guesthouses, and excellent restaurants. Walking distance from the station and central transport links
• Glowny station area -- practical for late arrivals by train or early-morning departures. Several business hotels including Mercure, ibis, and Hampton within a few hundred metres of the station
• MTP / Malta Lake area -- east of the centre near the International Fair. More modern hotels that may be particularly practical if the event is at MTP. Good tram connections to the Old Town
• Poznan is significantly cheaper than Warsaw for accommodation. Mid-range hotels cost noticeably less than in the capital, and the quality is high
• Airbnb and short-term apartments are abundant in the centre and represent very good value for a weekend stay

Tip: November is Poznan's quietest month for tourism. Hotel availability is excellent and prices are the lowest of the year. The Old Market Square area is atmospheric and practical — one of Poland's finest town squares as a daily backdrop is a genuine bonus on a race weekend.

Training in Poznan

Poznan's fitness scene has grown significantly alongside the city's student and professional population. Several facilities in the city are appropriate for HYROX preparation.

• CrossFit affiliates -- Poznan has several established CrossFit boxes with full HYROX-relevant equipment. Guest day passes are available at most locations
• Functional fitness studios -- specialist studios across the city have invested in sled tracks, SkiErgs, and rowing machines. Contact studios in advance to confirm equipment availability
• Commercial chains (Zdrofit, Fabryka Formy) have multiple Poznan locations with extensive equipment, though sled track access varies. Confirm before booking
• The Adam Mickiewicz University sports complex and other university facilities are well equipped and often accessible to the public. Check for guest access policies

Running Routes

• Malta Lake (Jezioro Maltanskie) -- a purpose-built regatta lake east of the centre with a flat 2.6 km perimeter running path. Well lit and popular with local athletes year-round. Direct tram access from the station
• Cytadela Park -- a large park on the site of a 19th-century fortress, 2 km north of the centre. Extensive running trails through wooded areas. Widely used by Poznan athletes for long runs and interval sessions
• Old Market Square loop -- a flat road loop around the historic centre and the surrounding boulevards. Good for easy recovery runs with the city as backdrop
• November running in Poznan requires warm clothing and good lighting. Many routes around Malta Lake are lit and practical for early-morning or evening sessions

Race Day Tips

• Arrive at least 90 minutes before your wave start. Three-day events require efficient wave management and registration queues can build
• Collect your race bib and timing chip at registration. Bring a printed or digital copy of your confirmation and a valid ID
• November in Poznan is cold — temperatures often below 5°C. Dress warmly for travel to the venue and bring dry clothes for after the race. Indoor conditions will be warm once competing
• Poland's HYROX community is competitive and growing rapidly. Warsaw events regularly see times that match or exceed western European field averages. Expect a similar standard in Poznan
• Bring your own nutrition for the full race day. Polish HYROX events have vendors on site but the three-day format concentrates demand. Prepare gels, bars, and snacks in advance
• Spectators: Entry is typically free for supporters. Polish HYROX crowds are enthusiastic and events are well organised
• Poznan's restaurant and bar scene around the Old Market Square is genuinely excellent and affordable. The post-race meal is a real highlight of a Poznan race weekend
