HYROX Nice 2026

Nice hosts two HYROX races in 2026, making the French Riviera one of the better-served destinations in France this season. The February window (12-15) gives athletes a winter race in a mild Mediterranean climate, while the October/November window (29 Oct - 1 Nov) offers an autumn target as the main European season draws to a close.

Nice is a compact, walkable city with excellent transport links. Flying into NCE puts you minutes from the centre, and the Italian border is less than 30 km to the east, making this a straightforward destination for athletes from northern Italy as well as from across France.

Getting There

By Air

  • Nice Côte d'Azur Airport (NCE) -- the primary option for most athletes. Direct flights from London, Amsterdam, Brussels, Frankfurt, Zurich, Madrid and many more European hubs. Around 7 km from the city centre
  • Bus Line 98 runs from Terminal 1 to Nice Ville station (30 minutes). Bus Line 99 runs from Terminal 2 to Promenade des Anglais (20 minutes)
  • Taxis from the airport to the city centre take around 15-20 minutes depending on traffic and cost €25-35
  • Milan Malpensa (MXP) is an option for athletes flying from further east, with a 3.5-hour drive to Nice

By Train

  • Nice Ville is the main station. TGV connections from Paris (5.5 hours direct, or change at Marseille or Lyon)
  • Regional TER trains from Marseille Saint-Charles reach Nice in 2.5 hours. Cannes is 40 minutes, Monaco 25 minutes, Ventimiglia (Italy) 1 hour
  • Trenitalia operates services from Milan to Nice (4-5 hours), a practical option for Italian athletes
  • High-speed rail from Paris requires advance booking; tickets on SNCF or Trainline can be considerably cheaper when booked early

By Car

  • From Paris: approximately 9 hours via A7 (Autoroute du Soleil) and A8 (La Provençale). Tolls apply throughout
  • From Marseille: 2.5 hours via A8
  • From Turin (Italy): 2.5 hours via the A10/A8 motorways through the Ligurian coast
  • Nice city centre parking is limited and expensive; stay near a tram or bus stop if driving to the race venue
  • The A8 Nice-Matin motorway can be congested entering the city — allow extra time during peak travel periods

Where to Stay

Nice is a mature tourist destination with accommodation at every price point. For either race window, book well in advance — Nice is popular year-round.

  • City centre / Promenade des Anglais -- central location, walking distance to the beach and most venues. Hôtel Negresco, Radisson Blu, AC Hotel and budget options like Ibis all cluster here
  • Nice Acropolis / Jean Médecin area -- close to the likely race venue. More commercial and less expensive than the seafront strip, with good tram connections
  • Nice Riquier / Port area -- east of the Old Town (Vieux-Nice), quieter and slightly cheaper. Good restaurants and a 10-minute walk to the Old Town
  • Antibes and Cannes are 20-40 minutes away by train if Nice accommodation is sold out or too expensive during the race weekend
  • For the February event, Nice is quieter than in summer and prices are lower — this is a good window for competitive hotel rates

Training in Nice

Nice benefits from an outdoor fitness culture year-round thanks to its Mediterranean climate. Indoor HYROX-specific equipment is available but the running infrastructure is exceptional.

  • CrossFit Nice -- the primary functional fitness community in the city. Coaches familiar with HYROX preparation and the SkiErg/sled work required
  • Basic-Fit Nice -- multiple locations across the city with SkiErg and rowing equipment for independent training sessions
  • Salle de sport du Palais des Sports Jean-Bouin is a large municipal sports complex with extensive equipment
  • Outdoor street-workout parks along the beachfront provide bodyweight training spaces with views of the Mediterranean
  • The Nice Athletics Club (NAC) tracks near Jean-Médecin and the UNSS facilities offer access for coached speed work

Running Routes

  • Promenade des Anglais -- the iconic 7 km coastal promenade, flat and perfect for tempo runs. Busy on weekends but consistently enjoyable
  • Parc de la Colline du Château -- hill repeats above the Old Town, steep steps and trails offering excellent strength-endurance work
  • The Paillon riverside greenway runs through the city centre and connects parks from the coast to the northern suburbs
  • Cap Ferrat peninsula (20 minutes drive) offers a 10 km road loop above the sea — a favourite of Nice's running community
  • Mont Boron trails east of the port give forest running with sea views and manageable gradients for race-prep long runs

Nearby HYROX Races

Nice's two race windows bookend the season. If you want to combine races or the Nice dates do not fit, these options are within a manageable journey:

  • Turin (Italy): January 30 - February 1, 2026 — approximately 210 km via the A8/A10 coastal motorway (2.5 hours by car, under 3 hours by train). An ideal double-race weekend combined with the February Nice event
  • Lyon: May 20-24, 2026 — approximately 470 km north-west (5-6 hours by train via Marseille)
  • Toulouse: March 19-22, 2026 — approximately 680 km west (6-7 hours by train or 6 hours by car)
  • Marseille: check hyrox.com — 200 km west along the A8, under 3 hours by train
  • Monaco: not currently on the HYROX calendar, but 25 minutes from Nice by train — consider it as accommodation base if Monaco-area hotels suit your budget better

Race Day Tips

  • Arrive at least 90 minutes before your start wave. Nice venues are compact and queues build quickly at HYROX registration
  • Collect your race bib and timing chip at registration. Bring photo ID and your registration confirmation (printed or digital)
  • For the February event: the Riviera winter mornings are mild but the venue interior can still be cold before body temperature rises. Warm layers until your wave starts
  • Bring your own gels and energy bars. On-site vendors are available but queue time costs energy
  • Spectators: HYROX events are free to watch. Nice venues typically allow good sightlines around the course perimeter
  • Parking in central Nice is expensive and limited. Use public transport or stay within walking distance of the venue
  • Post-race recovery: the Promenade des Anglais, the Old Town restaurant area (Cours Saleya) and the port are all excellent options for post-race eating
