Düsseldorf hosts a landmark event in November 2026 as the first-ever stadium HYROX in the DACH region. Running November 11-15, this race breaks from the exhibition hall format that defines most European HYROX events and puts the course inside a stadium -- giving athletes a completely different race-day experience.

A stadium format means the running course wraps around the inside perimeter, spectators watch from elevated stands, and the atmosphere mirrors a professional sporting event rather than a trade show floor. For DACH athletes who have competed in exhibition venues in Cologne, Hamburg, Frankfurt, and Berlin, this is a genuine first.

Düsseldorf is a major European city with excellent air and rail connections, a world-class food and fashion culture, and a strong local sporting community. It sits 40 km from Cologne, making it possible for serious athletes to target both the April Cologne event and the November Düsseldorf race in the same season.

Date & Venue

Likely candidates for the stadium venue include the PSD Bank Dome (Merkur Spiel-Arena) near Düsseldorf Airport, the ISS Dome in the Rath district, or the Mitsubishi Electric Halle. By Air

• Düsseldorf Airport (DUS) -- one of Germany's three major airports, with direct international flights from most European hubs and intercontinental connections. The airport's own S-Bahn station connects directly to Düsseldorf Hbf in 15 minutes
• Cologne Bonn Airport (CGN) is 60 km south (45 minutes by S-Bahn) and provides an alternative if DUS is more expensive or sold out
• Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS) is 2.5 hours by ICE train from Düsseldorf Hbf, a practical option for Dutch athletes or international arrivals via Amsterdam

Race Day Tips

• A stadium format changes logistics. Read the race guide carefully -- athlete entrance, bag drop, and warm-up areas in a stadium differ from exhibition halls
• Arrive at least 90 minutes before your wave. November evenings get dark early in Germany -- if your wave is later in the day, check whether the stadium has sufficient outdoor lighting for the approach
• November temperatures in Düsseldorf average 5-9°C. Bring warm clothing for travel to and from the venue. Inside a full stadium the temperature will be higher, but warm layers for pre-race waiting are essential
• Pack your own race nutrition. Bring gels and food that you have tested in training -- race-day experiments are never a good idea
• Spectators: Stadium HYROX is exceptional for supporters. Elevated seating means spectators can see the full running course and multiple workout stations simultaneously. HYROX Düsseldorf will be worth watching even without racing
• The Altstadt area near the Rhine is one of Germany's best post-race celebration spots -- "die längste Theke der Welt" (the world's longest bar) is exactly the kind of incentive you need for a strong finish
