HYROX Boston 2026

Boston hosts the world's oldest annual marathon. The city's endurance culture goes back generations, and HYROX draws directly from that pool -- New England athletes who train hard and race harder. The October 8-11 event falls in early fall, when temperatures are good for racing and the city looks its best.

The venue sits in the Seaport District, a former industrial waterfront now filled with restaurants, hotels, and tech offices. The BCEC is one of the largest convention centers on the East Coast, with plenty of room for the full HYROX course, spectator areas, and warm-up zones.

The Venue: Boston Convention and Exhibition Center

The BCEC is the largest exhibition center in New England: over 516,000 square feet of contiguous space on the South Boston waterfront. The open floor plan and high ceilings work well for HYROX's station-to-station layout. Large windows along the harbor side let in natural light -- a contrast to the windowless halls at many other HYROX venues.

Getting There

By Air

• Logan International (BOS) -- 3 miles from the BCEC across the harbor. Taxi through the Ted Williams Tunnel: 10-15 minutes, $20-30. The Silver Line bus (SL1) connects airport terminals to World Trade Center station near the BCEC, free of charge
• Providence (PVD) / Manchester (MHT) -- budget alternatives, 60-90 minutes away by car. Sometimes much cheaper fares

By Train/Transit

• Silver Line SL2 from South Station stops at World Trade Center, right next to the BCEC. Frequent service
• South Station -- Amtrak from New York (3.5-4 hrs), DC (7 hrs), Providence (30 min). Also the commuter rail hub. Walk to the BCEC in about 15 minutes along the waterfront
• Red Line subway to South Station, then Silver Line or walk

By Car

• From I-93 -- exit at Congress Street or Seaport Boulevard, follow signs to the Convention Center
• From I-90 (Mass Pike) -- exit 25 for South Boston, then D Street to Summer Street
• The BCEC garage has 1,400 spaces. Additional lots along the Seaport, $30-45 per day
• Boston driving is aggressive and the roads are confusing. If you do not know the city, take the T

Where to Stay

• Seaport District -- walk to the venue. Yotel, Aloft, and Envoy Hotel are among the newer options. Higher prices but closest to the BCEC
• Back Bay -- brownstone-lined streets, hotels along Boylston and Newbury. 20-minute taxi or subway ride to the BCEC
• Downtown / Financial District -- close to South Station with easy Silver Line access. Multiple chains at various price points
• Cambridge -- across the river, more affordable than downtown. Red Line to South Station, then Silver Line to the venue
• Fall foliage season fills Boston hotels fast. The Head of the Charles Regatta may overlap, adding more demand. Book 8-10 weeks ahead

Training in Boston

CrossFit, rowing, and running are all strong here. Boston's marathon heritage feeds a broader training culture that suits HYROX well.

• CrossFit New England in Natick -- one of the most competitive boxes in the country. Closer to the city, CrossFit Boston in Southie has a solid HYROX community
• November Project -- a free fitness movement that started in Boston. Wednesday stadiums at Harvard, Friday hill workouts. Open to all levels
• Beacon Hill Athletic Clubs -- multiple downtown locations with functional training floors, Concept2 rowers, and SkiErgs
• EverybodyFights in the Seaport -- boxing-based fitness with strength and conditioning circuits. Good for upper body endurance

Running Routes

• Charles River Esplanade -- the main running path along the Charles. Hatch Shell to Harvard Bridge and back is about 6 miles, flat. Cross to Cambridge on the Paul Dudley White path for longer runs
• Boston Common / Public Garden -- short loop through the oldest public park in the US. About 2 miles per lap, good for shakeout runs
• Minuteman Bikeway -- paved rail trail from Alewife (Cambridge) to Bedford, 10 miles each way. Flat, quiet, good for tempo work
• Castle Island / Pleasure Bay -- 2-mile waterfront loop in South Boston, close to the BCEC. Works well as a pre-race shakeout the day before

Race Day Tips

• Arrive at least 90 minutes before your wave. The BCEC is large and check-in lines can be long
• Collect bib and timing chip at registration. Photo ID required
• Weather: early October averages 55-65F (13-18C). Bring a warm layer for before and after. Rain is possible
• Bring your own gels, snacks, and hydration. The Seaport has good restaurants for a pre-race dinner the night before
• Spectators get in free. The BCEC layout gives good sightlines across multiple stations
• Harpoon Brewery, Trillium, and Row 34 are all within walking distance for post-race food and beer
