Life Fitness IC7 Bike Fit Calculator

Get a starting saddle height and handlebar reach for a Life Fitness IC7 (built by ICG), in centimeters, from your height and inseam — the indoor cycle you'll find in most big-box commercial gyms.

Methodology

Saddle height uses the LeMond method (Greg LeMond, 1987): saddle height = inseam × 0.883, measured from the center of the pedal at the bottom of the stroke to the top of the saddle. Handlebar reach is estimated from standing height × 0.42. This is the same general formula used across indoor bikes — Life Fitness/ICG doesn't publish a cm-to-dial conversion for the IC7's numbered adjustment dials, and no verified real-world calibration exists for this model yet (unlike our Technogym Group Cycle calculator, which is anchored to a plumb-line-verified fit), so treat the cm output as a starting reference rather than a Life Fitness-specific spec. Use it to get close on the IC7's seat and handlebar dials, then confirm with the standard on-bike checks: a slight knee bend at the bottom of the pedal stroke, and the front of your kneecap tracking over the pedal axle when the crank is horizontal (3 o'clock).

FAQ

What saddle height should I use on a Life Fitness IC7?

Multiply your inseam (floor to crotch, no shoes, in cm) by 0.883 — the LeMond method — for the distance from the center of the pedal at the bottom of the stroke to the top of the saddle. An 80 cm inseam gives roughly 70.6 cm. Set the IC7's seat dial to the closest matching position, then fine-tune: slight knee bend at the bottom of the stroke, no hip rocking.

How do I set up a Life Fitness IC7 for my height?

Start with saddle height from the LeMond formula (inseam × 0.883), match it to the nearest number on the seat dial, then check that the front of your kneecap sits directly over the pedal axle when the crank is horizontal (3 o'clock) — adjust fore/aft from there. Set the handlebar dial level with or slightly above the saddle.

Is the IC7 the same as other Life Fitness / ICG bikes?

ICG (Indoor Cycling Group) builds the IC line for Life Fitness, and dial spacing can vary slightly between IC5, IC7, and IC8. This page targets the IC7 specifically; use the cm output as a starting point on any ICG model and re-verify with the on-bike knee checks.

Is this an official Life Fitness fit tool?

No — Life Fitness doesn't publish its own fit formula or a cm-to-dial conversion for the IC7. This uses the same published cycling fit methodology (LeMond method) used across indoor bikes generally. It's a solid starting point, not an official Life Fitness specification.

How accurate is this calculator?

The saddle-height formula (LeMond method) is well-established and typically accurate to within a couple of centimeters for most body types. The handlebar-reach estimate is a simpler proportional approximation. Both benefit from on-bike verification — check knee bend at the bottom of the stroke and kneecap-over-pedal at 3 o'clock once you're set up.

Results are estimates based on published cycling fit formulas (LeMond method) and standard indoor-cycling proportions, not a Life Fitness-specific calibration. Use as a starting point, then fine-tune on the bike itself. Not medical or physical-therapy advice.
